Metal

One of my first experiences with metal was in high school.  I was instantly in love with hand working metal.  Using different hand tools to forge the solid flat pieces into rounded and textured pieces of wearable art.

I enjoy hand forming the metal, taking flat pieces of silver of copper and turning them into smooth, rounded, sometimes textured, pieces of wearable art.  I am intrigued by the idea of our bodies as vessels so my work in this medium often takes the form of a primitive vessel designed to be worn around the neck, where it touches the skin.

Copper and silver are two favorite mediums for some of my work, primarily because these two metals are found in the earth.  My career started with metalsmithing, and the techniques involved still find their way into my art today.
